  1. On the website I see “reserved accommodation” and “direct offer”. What is the difference?
    Reserved accommodation
    SSH Short Stay has made arrangements with a number of educational institutions and companies. These organization have reserved accommodation with SSH Short Stay for their guests (international students and employees) who will come to live in the Netherlands for a specific period of time. If you are going to study or work at one of these educational institutions or companies you can reserve a room via “reserved accommodation”.
    Direct Offer
    If you will not study or work at one of these organizations, you can reserve accommodation via our Direct Offer. This is an allotment of accommodations that is available to anyone who is looking for temporary accommodation in The Netherlands.
  2. Has my school/university/company made agreements with SSH Short Stay about rooms for their international students and employees?
    The organizations that have special arrangements with Short Stay can be found on our homepage. These organizations have reserved accommodation especially for their students/employees.
  3. My school/university/company has made agreements with SSH Short Stay about rooms for their international students. How can I be taken into account for one of these rooms?
    You can register on our website. Your school has to approve your application. Then you can reserve a room on our website via the ‘reserved accommodation’. Click on the name of your school/university on the homepage and follow the procedure.
  4. My school/university/company has made agreements with SSH Short Stay about rooms for international students, but no rooms are left. Can I arrange a Short Stay room myself, via SSH Short Stay?
    Yes, you can. SSH Short Stay has a ‘direct offer’ of accommodations. Anyone can reserve a room via our 'direct offer' for any period of time (a day up to 12 months). Please note that different terms & conditions apply.
  5. My school/university/company has not made any agreements with SSH Short Stay about rooms for international students. Can I arrange a room myself, via SSH Short Stay?
    Yes, you can. Short Stay has a ‘direct offer’ of accommodations. Anyone can reserve a room via this direct offer. Different terms & conditions apply.
  6. I will be bringing my family with me to the Netherlands, can SSH Short Stay arrange a place so we can all live together?
    Via Direct Offer you can search for apartments for couples/families.
  7. What is the maximum rental period for Short Stay accommdation? 
    You can stay for a maximum period of one year depending on the type of reservation you have. Check the terms & conditions!
  8. I have reserved a room but my plans have changed and I am not coming after all.
    Reserved housing
    If you have reserved your room via your school/university/company, you will need to inform them ánd Short Stay that you would like to cancel your reservation. This is possible before commencement of the rental period. If you cancel, your down-payment (obligatory for UU master and exchange students) will not be refunded. If you have not paid a down-payment you may be charged a cancellation fee. Check your terms & conditions for details. Cancellation after commencement of the rental period is not possible.
    Direct Offer
    It is possible to cancel your reservation before commencement of the rental period. Check the terms & conditions 'direct offer' for details. After commencement of the rental period you can reduce the rental period, with due observance of a notice period of two months.
